EMDR Intensives in Washington
Deep, focused trauma work — in days, not months.
Many of the people I work with are capable, conscientious, and used to holding a lot. The idea of adding one more weekly appointment to an already full life can feel like the opposite of relief. And weekly therapy, as valuable as it is, can sometimes feel like you're just beginning to go somewhere when the session ends — only to start over again next week.
An EMDR intensive offers a different path: dedicated, uninterrupted time to work through what's been weighing on you, at a pace that lets your nervous system actually settle into the process.
When Weekly Sessions Aren't the Right Fit
There's nothing wrong with weekly therapy — but it isn't the only way to heal. You might be considering an intensive if:
– You feel stuck or like you're on the edge of a breakthrough in your current work
– The logistics of a standing weekly appointment feel impossible right now
– You want to focus on something specific without stretching it across many months
– You're preparing for a big life transition and want to feel more grounded going into it
– You'd rather invest concentrated time and energy than dip in and out of difficult material week after week
What Is an EMDR Intensive?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel so present in your body and daily life.
In a standard 50-minute session, reprocessing often barely gets going before it's time to stop. An intensive removes that constraint. With extended, uninterrupted time, we can move into the work more fully — and many people find that a focused intensive accomplishes what might otherwise take weeks or months of weekly sessions.
My intensives are trauma-informed and integrate EMDR with somatic (body-based) and mindfulness approaches, always at a pace that feels collaborative and supportive — never rushed.
This May Be a Good Fit If You:
– Have experienced trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or burnout that you're ready to work through directly
– Want deeper healing rather than only coping strategies
– Are looking for a focused, time-bound experience that fits around your life
– Already have steady support in place and feel resourced enough to go deeper
When an Intensive Isn't the Right Step
This format may not be the best starting point if you're currently in crisis, if you don't yet have grounding and coping practices in place, or if what you need most right now is the steady, ongoing rhythm of weekly support. We'll talk all of this through together in your consultation, and if an intensive isn't right, I'll help you think about what is.
How It Works
1. Free consultation (15 minutes). We meet to talk about what's bringing you in and to see whether an intensive is a good fit. No pressure either way.
2. Specialized intake paperwork. Before we meet, you'll complete tailored EMDR and history paperwork. Doing this in advance means we spend our time together on the actual work — not on filling in background.
3. Intake & preparation session (90 minutes). We build your treatment plan together, identify what we'll focus on, and make sure you feel grounded and ready for the reprocessing work ahead.
4. Your intensive (one or two days). Three hours of focused EMDR per day, with breaks as needed, scheduled on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You can choose a single-day intensive or spread the work across two days.
5. Follow-up session (55 minutes). After your intensive, we meet to integrate the work, check in on how you're feeling, and talk about next steps.
Formats & Investment
Both intensives are all-inclusive packages — the paperwork, the preparation session, the intensive itself, and your follow-up are all included in one price.
Single-Day Intensive — $1,250
Specialized intake paperwork · 90-minute intake & prep session · one 3-hour reprocessing day · 55-minute follow-up session
Two-Day Intensive — $1,950
Specialized intake paperwork · 90-minute intake & prep session · two 3-hour reprocessing days · 55-minute follow-up session
Intensives are a private-pay service and are not billed to insurance. Payment plans can be discussed during your consultation. As a self-pay service, you'll receive a Good Faith Estimate before we begin, so you know exactly what to expect.
Scheduling & Logistics
Intensives are held online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, so you can do this work from a space where you feel comfortable. They're offered on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to fit around your work week.
Because of licensing, you'll need to be physically located in Washington or Oregon at the time of our sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have done EMDR before?
No. Whether EMDR is new to you or something you've experienced before, your intake and prep session is designed to make sure you feel ready and supported going in.
Does insurance cover intensives?
Intensives are private-pay and aren't billed to insurance, and I don't provide superbills for them. This keeps the process simple and lets us focus fully on your care.
Is online EMDR as effective as in-person?
Yes. EMDR translates well to a secure video format — bilateral stimulation can be guided through eye movements or gentle tapping, and many people find doing this work from their own space adds to their sense of safety.
One day or two?
We'll decide together during your consultation, based on what you're working on and what feels sustainable for you.
