EMDR INTENSIVES | WASHINGTON & OREGON

EMDR Intensives for When Weekly Therapy Doesn’t Feel Like Enough

You don’t have to spend months getting to the heart of what’s keeping you stuck.

EMDR intensives offer a focused way to work more deeply on the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that continue to affect you today.

Instead of fitting the work into a traditional weekly therapy hour, we have more time to prepare, process, and work through what’s coming up without having to stop just as we’re getting somewhere.

EMDR INTENSIVES FAQ

Questions About EMDR Intensives

  • EMDR intensives offer a focused way to work more deeply on the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that continue to affect you today.

Instead of fitting the work into a traditional weekly therapy hour, we have more time to prepare, process, and work through what’s coming up without having to stop just as we’re getting somewhere.

  • Traditional EMDR therapy is often incorporated into weekly therapy sessions. An EMDR intensive provides a longer, more concentrated period of time for EMDR preparation and processing.

For some people, longer sessions can reduce the amount of time spent checking in, getting settled, and closing down the work each week. Instead, we have more uninterrupted time to focus on a particular experience, belief, or pattern.

An intensive doesn't necessarily mean therapy will move faster, and more time isn't always better for every person. We'll consider your goals, nervous system, history, and current circumstances when deciding whether an intensive or ongoing therapy makes the most sense.

  • At Ellie Kane Counseling, I offer two online EMDR intensive packages for adults throughout Washington and Oregon.

    Single-Day EMDR Intensive — $1295

Includes specialized intake paperwork, a 90-minute preparation session, three hours of focused EMDR therapy, and a 50-minute follow-up session.

    Two-Day EMDR Intensive — $1,995

Includes specialized intake paperwork, a 90-minute preparation session, six hours of focused EMDR therapy across two days, and a 50-minute follow-up session.

Both packages are designed to provide a comprehensive therapeutic experience, including preparation, trauma processing, and integration.

EMDR intensives are private-pay services and are not billed to insurance. Payment plans may be discussed during your free consultation.

You'll receive a Good Faith Estimate before beginning so you know exactly what to expect.

  • EMDR intensives at Ellie Kane Counseling are offered as private-pay packages and are not billed to insurance.

Unlike traditional weekly therapy, intensive packages include extended EMDR processing sessions, individualized preparation, and follow-up care.

Payment plans can be discussed during your free consultation, and you'll receive a Good Faith Estimate before beginning treatment.

If you're looking for ongoing EMDR therapy rather than an intensive, I also offer individual and extended EMDR sessions.

  • No. You do not need previous experience with EMDR therapy to participate in an EMDR intensive.

Before the intensive, we’ll meet for a 90-minute preparation session. This gives us time to talk about your history and goals, identify what you’d like to work on, explain the EMDR process, and develop resources to help you feel prepared for the work.

If you’re new to EMDR, I’ll guide you through the process and answer questions along the way. We’ll also determine together whether an intensive is an appropriate fit for you before beginning.

  • Yes. I offer online EMDR intensives for adults located throughout Washington and Oregon.

I use specialized technology that allows us to incorporate bilateral stimulation and other EMDR techniques during virtual sessions. Online EMDR also allows you to participate from a private, comfortable space without needing to travel to an office before or after an extended therapy session.

Before your intensive, we’ll talk about your setup, technology, privacy, and what you can expect so that you feel prepared for the experience.

  • EMDR therapy is commonly used to treat trauma and PTSD, and an intensive format may be appropriate for some people with complex trauma.

Complex trauma can involve more than one distressing memory. It may also affect relationships, self-worth, attachment, emotional regulation, and the way your nervous system responds to stress. Because of this, EMDR for complex trauma may involve additional preparation, resourcing, and careful pacing.

An EMDR intensive is not about trying to process your entire history in a day or weekend. Together, we’ll identify a focus for the intensive and determine what feels appropriate to work on.

  • An EMDR intensive may be worth considering if there is a particular experience, memory, belief, or recurring pattern you would like to address and you want more focused therapeutic time than a traditional weekly session provides.

Intensives can also appeal to people who have already spent considerable time in therapy or understand their patterns intellectually but continue to notice the same emotional or nervous system responses showing up.

EMDR intensives aren’t the right fit for everyone. During your consultation and preparation session, we’ll consider your goals, history, current circumstances, and readiness and decide together whether an intensive makes sense for you.

  • No. You do not have to describe every detail of a difficult or traumatic experience in order to work with it using EMDR.

We’ll talk about enough for me to understand what we’re working with and guide the process, but you remain in control of what you choose to share.

You can slow down, pause, ask questions, or tell me when something doesn’t feel right. EMDR is collaborative, and you will not be expected to disclose details simply because you think you’re supposed to.

  • Your intensive includes a 50-minute follow-up session. This gives us an opportunity to check in about what you’ve noticed since the intensive, discuss any changes or new insights, and determine whether there is additional work you would like to address.

Processing can continue after an EMDR session, so you may notice changes in thoughts, emotions, dreams, memories, or the way you respond to situations in the days afterward. We’ll discuss what to expect and how to support yourself following your intensive.

From there, we can talk about whether you would benefit from additional EMDR work, ongoing therapy, or simply time to integrate the work you’ve already done.

READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?

Let’s see if an EMDR intensive is right for you.

You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on or whether an intensive is the right fit before reaching out.

During a free consultation, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to EMDR, what you’re hoping might change, and whether an intensive—or another approach—makes the most sense for you.
